Artist Statement

Zandra Valenzuela Delgado

Through my work I aim to captivate through color and form the complex beauty of the world, from the universal to the microscopic, from complexity to the simplicity.

Born in 1974 in Santiago Chile, my life has been always linked to art, humanities and music.
Currently based in the South of Chile, in the beautiful resort lake town of Frutillar, were arts and music are an engraved part of the community, I have found the perfect environment to develop my art and creative process taking what was just a series of personal ideas into the next level. Having lived for extended periods in the United States, Europe and China, the exploding beauty of nature I have found in the South of Chile has been an endless source of inspiration.
Attorney at Law by profession, marked by growth and personal development, art has always been the perfect channel to evolve my ideas in a world of color and form, an interpretative expression beyond words.
In the complexity inspired by the renaissance ideals, complementing my days between ideas and forms has been the perfect mix in the expression of being, of identity. In a world that demands unidirectional paths, the freedom of expression that art brings into my life, has been the true mark of rebellion, but also enlightenment.
My work, based mainly on acrylic and mixed media, try to build ideas from color and harmony of form, playing with light and textures to intensify their dynamic reading.
As an abstract painter, my creative process results from exploring basic shapes and minimalist forms embossed in a complex environment of color and texture. I try to focus the source of inspiration for my work in the beauty of nature in the area I reside.
